I was able to visit DakshinaChitra which is a center for the traditions of art, craft and architecture of India with an emphasis on the traditions of South India. The center overlooking the Bay of Bengal, at Muttukadu, twenty five kilometers south of Chennai. It was beautiful to see all the variety of homes from around the regions that had been pain-stakingly transplanted into one location to share the wealth of craftsmanship in the homes. I took just a few detail pictures with my iPhone as we found ourselves so focused on the intricate maze of rooms and houses.
